Department of History

The Department was founded in 2022, Currently The Department offers postgraduate level programs: Master of Arts and Doctor of Philosophy. Since the inception of the Department has strived to create a conducive environment for teaching, learning and research. Department is also focusing on regional history of the Panchmahal region which is known for its rich cultural heritage, historical significance, and natural beauty. The department also made an effort though serious academic initiative to Decolonizing Indian history is a critical endeavor aimed at dismantling colonial narratives that have shaped historical understanding for centuries. 

Vision

The Department of History aims to train the students in not only understanding the historical past but also to perceive it in the context of the present. The whole process is carried out through teaching, research and extension activities. We believe that multidisciplinary knowledge is essential for the growth of the historical field and therefore aim to continuously update our course structure.

The Department by equipping students with a deep appreciation of their cultural heritage empowers them to become active participants in preserving and promoting Indian traditions. The Department also inspires students to take pride in their cultural identity and to contribute positively to their communities, thereby ensuring the sustainability and enrichment of India's cultural legacy for generations to come.
